Local MP Keeps Vulnerable Constituents Informed

The current freezing conditions have presented us all with all manner of problems. One group particularly affected have been the elderly and local Member of Parliament Greg Mulholland has taken pains to contact elderly constituents and keep them informed of help available to them during the cold snap.

In a letter sent to hundreds of older constituents Greg has listed phone lines and services available to older people who might be particularly concerned about their safety.

Greg has been working closely with Older People's Action Leeds (OPAL) and other community organisations to ensure the letter reaches the right people.

Commenting Greg said:

"We are trying our best to get this letter out to all those who need it, but please if you are in any way concerned and haven't received the letter give my office a call on 0113 226 6519.

"This is the worst weather we have seen in many years and it is at times like this that communities have to stick together and where necessary help those who are really struggling.

"Hopefully the letter and guide we are circulating will provide assistance but if anyone needs more we are always happy to hear from constituents."
