MULHOLLAND CALLS FOR AN END TO CAR PARKING CHARGES FOR CANCER PATIENTS AT HOSPITALS

Greg Mulholland MP Liberal Democrat spokesperson for Health has reacted to press reports yesterday about the car parking charges faced by many cancer patients, and sufferers of other long term conditions, at Hospitals across the country.

Commenting, Greg said:

"We all recognise that car parking charges can represent a valuable source of income for hospitals but the practice of charging sufferers of long term conditions for use of the car park is, frankly, cruel.

This problem has been ongoing for some time and the Government needs to finally get a grip on it.

People with long term conditions often have no choice other than to use the car park at the hospital, it is time that the Government forced hospitals that are not already doing so to offer free parking to these patients."
