GOVERNMENT'S HANDLING OF EAST COAST MAIN LINE AFFAIR: "CHAOS TINGED WITH FARCE" - MULHOLLAND

Greg Mulholland, MP for Leeds North west responded to a statement made by minister for transport Sadiq Khan on the temporary nationalisation of the East Coast Main Line by criticising the Government's handling of the affair.

Commenting Greg said;

"I welcome the substance of the announcement, considering that National Express has, quite frankly, run down the service.

However the manner in which the Government went about making this statement was chaos tinged with farce.

The press seemed to have details of this statement before it was made to the House, which is a dangerous practice because it helps create a great deal of confusion amongst the public".
