126 MILE CHALLENGERS RECEIVE SPECIAL AWARD FROM LORD MAYOR

Greg Mulholland MP, Cllr Ryk Downes and Martin Rivett of Leeds Met University received a special certificate from the Lord Mayor of Leeds Judith Elliot to mark their completion of the 126 Mile Challenge.

The presentation took place on the steps of the Civic Hall and representatives from the charities and the 126 Mile Challenge sponsors were also in attendance.

The three completed the Belfast Marathon and the Wessex 100 mile walk to raise money for three local charities, Wheatfields Hospice in Headingley, The Wharfedale Hospital Special Equipment Fund and Holt Park based charity Kidz in Kampz.

The Challenge was sponsored by Up and Running, Jet2 .com, Bulldog Sports, Jaguar and Leeds Met.

Greg Mulholland MP said:

"It was great to receive the award from the Lord Mayor. The challenge was certainly gruelling but good fun and it's great that we have had such a good response from local people. The cash raised will really make a difference to the charities."

Councillor Ryk Downes added:

Martin Rivett added:
