PLEASED THAT GOVERNMENT HAS ADOPTED MEASURES IN MY WINE GLASS BILL - MULHOLLAND

1.04.00pm GMT Fri 5th Dec 2008

Greg Mulholland, MP for Leeds North West, has welcomed the announcement from the Government yesterday as part of the Queen's speech that pubs and bars will be required to sell smaller wine glasses, as well as larger sizes.

Greg tabled a Private Member's Bill in the last Parliamentary session calling for the measure.

Commenting Greg said:

"I am please that the Government has decided to adopt the measures in my wine glass bill.

"This will give people more choice, allowing people to have a smaller glass of wine if they want, as well as the larger sizes which are all too often all that is offered.

"This will also standardise wine glass sizes and allow people to be more aware of how much they are drinking.

"So it is good for consumer choice, and good for increased alcohol awareness."
