"HIGH TIME THAT POWER OF HUGE PUBCOS LOOKED AT AGAIN" - MULHOLLAND

11.00.00am UTC (GMT +0000) Fri 26th Sep 2008

The call for evidence for the Business and Enterprise Select Committee's enquiry into the conduct of Pubcos and the supply tie closes on Monday, and Greg Mulholland, MP for Leeds North West, who along with Tim Farron MP instigated calls for the enquiry, has been speaking to Publicans in his area to encourage them to relay their experiences to the committee, and hopes that publicans across the country will do the same.

The enquiry will examine a range of issues, including the behaviour of Pubcos and the implications of the supply tie.

Commenting Greg said:

"It is high time that the power of the huge pubcos was looked at again.

"I am sick of hearing tales from all over the country about how pub landlords are being forced out by unreasonable terms.

"Some of the pubcos continue to be over defensive which is most revealing but they have to address one simple question: If it is such a great business model why are so many of their own tenants up in arms about the way it operates? It long past time this was examined."
