GOLDEN COUPLE RECIVE VETERANS AWARD FROM LOCAL MP

8.23.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Fri 20th Jun 2008

Greg Mulholland MP for Leeds North West was delighted to present a former serviceman with an award at his office. Mr Kevin Collins of Meanwood was presented with a veteran badge, this is an award given to former serviceman to denote their service for the country. It was a double celebration for Mr Collins as he was also celebrating his Golden Wedding Anniversary.

Greg said "I was absolutely delighted to present the award to Mr Collins and to meet and chat with him and also Mrs Collins. They are remarkable couple and I hope this award added to their special day."

Veterans badges are given to anyone who served in the forces like Mr Collins who served in Egypt in the early fifties.

Greg said "The members of our armed forces continue to do a dangerous and difficult job. It is therefore absolutely vital that we recognise people like Mr Collins who served our country and veterans badges are a great way of doing this. "
