MP CALLS ON POST OFFICE TO LISTEN TO PUBLIC ANGER OVER WESTON LANE CLOSURE

3.45.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Tue 10th Jun 2008

Otley MP Greg Mulholland has called upon the Post Office and the Government to listen to Otley's residents after over the proposed closure of the Weston Lane Post Office. Many local residents expressed their anger at last night's public meeting in Otley which Greg organised to discuss the closure.

Greg said "It was very good to see so many local residents come along to the meeting to express their views. It was fantastic to see Otley speak with one voice against the closure.

In attendance at the meeting was Councillor Graham Kirkland, Chairman of Otley Town council, town councillor Millie Stott and representatives from Royal Mail.

"I hope the Post Office will take note of the resident's views and stop the closure of this vital local service which so many residents rely upon. The loss of this Post Office would leave Otley with only one Post Office which many residents and I find completely unacceptable."
