LEEDS MP PLAYS IN CHARITY RUGBY MATCH AT TWICKENHAM IN AID OF CYSTIC FIBROSIS SUFFERERS

12.00.00am UTC (GMT +0000) Wed 16th Apr 2008

Greg Mulholland, MP for Leeds North West, participated in a charity rugby match between a team of Parliamentarians and a team playing on behalf of Cystic Fibrosis sufferers at Twickenham Stadium on Tuesday.

The CF team scored three tries to one to secure a 17-7 victory over the MPs, who were led on the day by honorary captain Rob Andrew. Lining up opposite Rob Andrew was 20-year-old singer-songwriter Joshua Jones who suffers from the disease.

Commenting, Mr Mulholland said:

"I was delighted to have the chance to play at Twickenham, particularly in aid of such a good cause.

"It was a great match, and to have the chance to play alongside Rob Andrew was fantastic, but it is important not to lose sight of the reason behind the whole thing.

"Cystic Fibrosis is the UK's most common life-threatening inherited disease, and thousands of people across the country are affected by it. So anything we can do to draw attention to this issue is hugely positive."
