Labour Ministers Cynically Manipulated Parliament on Menwith Hill - Mulholland

4.14.00pm UTC (GMT +0000) Thu 22nd Nov 2007

Following the news that the Foreign Affairs Select Committee in the House of Commons has criticised the Government for burying the announcement that it would allow Menwith Hill to be used as part of the US missile defence programme, Greg Mulholland MP has condemned Labour ministers for their cynical manipulation of parliamentary procedure.

Commenting Greg said:

"The Government has cynically manipulated Parliamentary procedure to try and sweep this decision under the rug.

"It is hugely controversial, and yet the Government clearly hoped to bury it by announcing a whole raft of new policy decisions on the same day.

"This decision is hugely important and has consequences which could be significant and long lasting; it should be brought back for full and frank debate in Parliament."
