Former President Of The Lib Dems, Lord Dholakia, to visit Hindu Temple

Former President of the Liberal Democrats, Lord Navnit Dholakia is coming to Leeds today to make a visit at 2:30pm to the Shree Hindu Temple in Headingley with local Councillor and Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate, Greg Mulholland. Lord Dholakia was President of the party until last year and is still the party's frontbench spokesperson on Home Affairs in the House of Lords.

There will be a photo opportunity at 2:30pm today at the Temple - 36, Alexandra Road, Headingley, Leeds LS6 1RF.

The Shree Temple is in Headingley ward, the ward Cllr Greg Mulholland represents, one of the wards in Leeds North West where the Liberal Democrats now have 18 councillors compared to just 6 each for the other parties. It is the Liberal Democrat's top general election target in West Yorkshire.

Of his visit, Lord Dholakia said, "I am delighted to be able to visit Leeds North West which is a wonderfully diverse seat. The Liberal Democrats believe in equal opportunity and mutual tolerance and here in Headingley and Hyde Park that is borne out by the community spirit here."

"I am also very pleased to meet Greg in his own ward and help with the campaign to elect him as MP. The Liberal Democrats have a great chance of winning the seat and as someone who lives in the area, he really is part of the community and would make an excellent MP in touch with the people he represents".

Said Greg Mulholland of the visit, "We are delighted to welcome Lord Dholakia to Headingley and to Leeds North West. He has done so much to further to cause of racial harmony and I have been proud to take him round my ward where we have several churches, two mosques and the Hindu Temple".
