12.00.00am UTC (GMT +0000) Tue 28th Jun 2005

Yesterday Greg Mulholland, Member of Parliament for Leeds North West, laid a motion in Parliament in support of the Leeds Supertram scheme, highlighting its tremendous potential benefits. Greg also tabled an urgent question to the Minister for Transport asking him to make a statement on the future of Supertram this week.

Commenting, Greg said;

"Leeds is the fastest growing city in the country and needs a modern and efficient public transport system including the Supertram.

"My motion in Parliament will demonstrate to the Government the overwhelming support in Leeds for the Supertram. But people are fed up with waiting.

"Let's hope the Minister will accommodate my request and make a positive statement on the future of the scheme this week."
