24 HOURS TO GIVE US OUR TRAM: MULHOLLAND

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Wed 20th Jul 2005

With only one day remaining before the House of Commons rises for summer recess, Greg Mulholland, Member of Parliament for Leeds North West has hand delivered a letter to Transport minister Alistair Darling calling for a definitive announcement on the Leeds Supertram scheme in 24 hours.

Commenting Greg said:

"The lack of a decision currently means that nothing is being done to tackle the very serious problems of congestion in Leeds.

"It is not acceptable to allow this uncertainty to continue any longer.

"The government needs to put its money where its mouth is and give us the go ahead for Leeds Supertram which will be environmentally and commercially a huge benefit to the city."
