MULHOLLAND EXPRESSES DELIGHT AT NEWS THAT SHADY LAND BANKING COMPANY CLOSED DOWN

12.00.00am UTC (GMT +0000) Thu 15th Mar 2007

Following the news that Actionjack Limited, who used the title 'English Land Partnerships' has been wound up by the High Court in Manchester, Leeds MP Greg Mulholland, who was at the forefront of the campaign against ELP, has expressed his delight that action has finally been taken to shut down this disreputable agency.

Mr Mulholland became aware of the practices of ELP when they began to market plots of land in his constituency at Cookridge Pastures. Representatives from ELP were caught during an undercover investigation by the BBC making entirely false and misleading claims to potential investors on the probability that permission for development would be granted on the site, and interest from external developers.

Commenting on the news Greg said:

"At last action has been taken to unravel this scam and to bring those who have swindled investors, and jeopardised our green belt, to book.

"ELP were engaged in some very deceptive and misleading practices and I am delighted that they have been permanently put out of action.

"I hope that this will be the beginning of the end of all shady land banking schemes. It is time to end this threat to our green spaces and stop anyone else from being taken in by these deceptive land banking schemes."
