REPORT PROVES THERE IS A CRISIS IN NHS DENTISTRY - MULHOLLAND

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Mon 15th Oct 2007

Commenting following a Dentistry Watch survey of dental patients undertaken by the Commission for Patient and Public Involvement in Health, which revealed that large numbers of people are still experiencing significant problems getting access to NHS dental care, Leeds MP Greg Mulholland said:

"Unfortunately this survey is simply proof of what we already knew - NHS dentistry is in crisis.

"The numbers of people are still unable to get access to NHS dental care prove that the new dental contract has been an utter failure.

"The Government is in denial about the crisis in the system. Ministers must admit the failings of the contract and admit the case for a thorough and urgent review of NHS dentistry.

" If the Government continue with this complacent attitude, there is a serious danger that NHS dentistry will become a thing of the past."
