MULHOLLAND WELCOMES CIVIC CENTRE DEVELOPMENT

Greg Mulholland MP has welcomed the news that after a long campaign, it appears that Otley Civic Centre will be refurbished with a £2.9 funding package from Leeds City Council and Otley Town Council.

Greg Mulholland declared his support for the Save Otley Civic Centre campaign as soon as he was elected to Parliament. He then lobbied councillors of all parties to unite around this position which was then adopted by Otley Town Council as the official position of the town.

Greg commented,

"This is great news that, at last, we will see this important building, which is at the heart of our community here in Otley, properly refurbished.

I always believed that the Civic Centre should be brought up to date, but at the same time retaining what is a very fine building.

"I want to pay tribute to the Save Otley Civic Centre campaign who have worked long and hard to persuade the powers that be to do this and also to Leeds City Council for coming up with the money for refurbishment. This is a great and long awaited deal for the town".

"It is a credit to Otley Town Council who have brokered this deal and agreed to run the Civic Centre.

We can now look forward to Otley Civic Centre being the hub of community life for many years to come".
